PEOPLE ON THE MOVE

Laura Khouri has been appointed president of Western National Property Management, an arm of the Western National Group with properties in Orange County. Khouri will lead a team of over 700 real estate professionals who manage more than 22,750 residential units within 155 communities located throughout California, Arizona and Utah.

Banco Popular with offices in Anaheim announced that Christine Borrelli has been appointed manager of the California Business Banking Group.  Borrelli will lead the region’s efforts in delivering commercial banking products and services to small and mid-sized businesses, nonprofits and government entities throughout Southern California.

Yamaha Corporation of America in Buena Park announced that it has promoted Fred Kleid and Dan Rodowicz to regional sales managers—newly created positions in the Keyboard Division.

Medical device company Vertos Medical Inc. has announced the expansion of its senior leadership team with the appointment of Randel W. Woodgrift to senior vice president of operations and research and development, and Ann Deren-Lewis to vice president of marketing.

Troutman Sanders LLP, with offices in Irvine,  announces that Martin W. Taylor, Dan EChambers and Jennifer Irrgang Bojorquez joined the firm as partners, along with associate Meghan Sherrill. The team also brings with it a contract attorney, two paralegals and two secretaries.

AWARDS

Westbound Communications in Orange has won a Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America for its work on the I-215 Widening Project – one of only four projects nationwide to receive $100 million in stimulus funds and the first of those to start construction. The company spearheaded the Phase 3 groundbreaking that can put 8,000 people back to work throughout four years.

Jewelry designer David Weiss from Laguna Niguel was named the city’s 2009 Citizen of the Year in a ceremony in June held at the El Niguel Country Club. Weiss has lived in Laguna Niguel for 24 years, and has served as presidents of the Laguna Niguel Chamber of Commerce, the Lions’ Club and the local chapter of Rotary International. He has also been president of the board for Beta Foster Care and Temple Beth El in Aliso Viejo.

Brian Kelly, CEO and president of SkyTek Digital Media in Costa Mesa, a new advertising company specializing in digital signage, announced the company was awarded Best New Product/Service at the San Diego Chapter’s 2010 American Marketing Association’s American Marketer of the Year Award ceremony. The “AMYs” are awarded to those who succeed connecting businesses with  their customers and are judged according to effectiveness, quality, style, and execution.

LEGISLATIVE FORUM

Orange County legislators will meet with local employers and business leaders concerning regulatory and environmental burdens they say have hindered them from creating jobs in California. This is a public meeting and all are welcome to come observe the discussion. Meet at 10 a.m. June 25 at the Anaheim Downtown Community Center, 250 E. Center St.
